"The Very Best!" 2010-06-01
By Guy May (EVERGREEN, CO, US)
I bought this machine for my wife's birthday. She is a quilter and was thrilled with the quality of this product. She has had several higher end sewing machines over the years but tells me this far and away the best she has ever owned! She says the features are outstanding and ease of use amaze her each time she works on her quilts!!

"what an AWESOME Sewing Machine!" 2010-05-16
By Joy Quinn (Toronto, Ontario)
I am sooo glad I bought this machine.. it's really quite easy to use.. within 1/2 hour of unpacking it, I was sewing away! Easy to thread, easy to use, the knee lifter for the presser foot and the auto thread cut are great. Very easy to change the feet, even while you are 'mid stitch'. Everything you would ever need is included. The extension table is a great plus especially since I am a quilter. I previously owned a Janome and wanted to stick with them and this model was a great choice! I highly recommend this machine! The only complaint I would have is the absence of a hard carrying case, ()although it does come with a soft cover.

"Wish I had the receipt.." 2010-08-01
By Daphne L. Brune (Houston, TX)
Please please please do not waste your money on this thing. We purchased it on clearance, thinking it would be great for our 5 year old daughter to sew with while Mommy sews. Yeah, no. It is INCREDIBLY noisy, and doesn't work at all. I am very familiar with sewing machines and machinery in general and this piece of junk is worthless. If you can get it to make a stitch at all it doesn't hold after you take it off of the machine - it instantly falls out. Save your money and see if you can find a 2 stitch sewing machine at a yard sale or something for probably the same amount of money. I ended up just breaking out my old 2-stitch Singer for my daughter to sew on since my she was so disappointed that this piece of ^&%* didn't work.

"Does not work--AWFUL design" 2010-07-29
By Sharon E Hallberg
My grandniece wants to sew--bought this with her birthday money. The stiches do not hold--just unsecured loops through the fabric--unravelled instantly. Set-up, especially threading, is extrememly difficult. she even tried exchanging it for another thinking maybe she got a lemon--the 2nd was the same. She was sorely disappointed. And it was a big waste of everyone's time as we all struggled to try to make it work. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!

"Do not buy!" 2010-05-23

As everyone else has said, this thing is horrible. My daughter was sooo excited about sewing, but it won't be happening on this thing. If I can't find a kid's machine that works, I'll just teach her on mine. I just get nervous about little fingers and fast moving needles.I had a kid's machine when I was little, but I don't remember the kind. It was red and yellow, I believe and had some 70's flowers. It was purchased in the late 80's at a thrift store, so no clue when it was made, does anyone know what this machine could be? It worked well.

"piece of JUNK!!!" 2010-03-25
By J. Kirby (Mountain States)
I, (the Mom) have been sewing for 20+ years and know the ins and outs of sewing machines very well. We've followed the instructions perfectly and this thing simply DOES NOT WORK! It has consumed a huge amount of time and producted an even larger amount of frustration! My 8-year-old would be far better off learning to sew on a basic, possibly used, introductory, REAL sewing machine-- which is preceisely what I intend to purchase after I throw this piece of junk away.

"JUNK" 2010-01-11

I agree 100% with the other reviews. This is a piece of junk and Singer needs to know this. Total waste of TIME and money. We are VERY DISAPPOINTED.

"Good quality machine" 2010-08-12
By R. M. Cook (Kansas)
Pros:

-2, 3, or 4 thread serging
-Color coded for looper threading. It took me about 10 minutes the first time I threaded it. I have threaded my machine several times in the last couple of months and I can now switch colors and rethread in less than 5 minutes.

-has differential adjustment

-has several stitch options

-works ok with cheap thread (better with the quality thread though)

Cons:
-The needles are held in place by hex head screws so you need an allen wrench. My daughter lost the one my accessory kit came with, and the manual does not state the size. Its 1/16" though.

-the accessory kit doesn't fit into the free arm space. I know that isn't really a feature, but I have a friend that has a drawer in her serger for storing accessories.

Overall, I would recommend this to my friends. If you have stubby fingers or poor eyesight go for a model that self threads. But for me this was a great purchase.

"Save your money" 2010-03-18
By Michael S. Schutz (Woodbury, MN)
We ordered this product and it arived very fast. Delivery service was very good. That is the only good news. This product is in a word "BAD." My wife, a very good seemstress, worked with it for two day and never did get the 4 tensions set to do a good job. We took it to a sewing center and they could not figure it out either. We ended up spending a bunch more money and bought a Baby Loc. No tension buttons at all!! You can sew any weight of fabric with any thread and the surged seem is purfect. Final word, Do NOT throw your money away. Buy QUALITY.

"Easy to start with" 2010-02-18
By Urd Megami (FL)
So far this has been fairly good to me. I was easy to use easy to set up. The only problem I've had so far is it was hard to find all the adjustments, and sometimes the stitching seems to be too wide or too long without an intuitive way to fix it. Other than that it makes quick work of seams and am waiting to wrestle with the other set ups such as the gathering stitch. The CD was very helpful to see exactly how to thread the machine. However after watching it once or twice the manual was the most helpful for reference.

"If I can do it, anyone can..." 2010-02-14
By R. Jones (Virginia)
I sew very little. I have been pretty much snowed in lately and thought I would give serging a try. My machine arrived in only 2 days and I began the daunting process of threading it. I noticed that it already had some thread in it and I immediately pulled it out. I was actually a wee bit annoyed that they had left it that way. Oh my gosh, did I feel ridiculous when I figured out my mistake! Soooooo, I threaded it manually using the written instructions. It took a little longer than an hour to do so and most of that was spent on the Blue needle. The others were relatively simple. If you are COMPLETELY in the dark about sergers, I think this is a GREAT machine to purchase. The color coding was a life saver and I was actually up and running in about 90 minutes or less. The DVD provides very useful information about tensions, etc and I was very proudly making new seams on everything in my house in no time. My only complaint was that out of the box, the machine had a heavy mildew odor. It lingered on the machine for a few weeks and I can still smell it although it is bearable now. Other than that, I would recommend it even to the fearful. Nice for the price!

"Super serger!!" 2010-01-10
By B. Heckman
I received this serger as a gift and love it. I have had a serger for about 20 years and love sewing with them. It was shipped very fast, arrived in great condition. It was packaged very well. I took it out of the box, set it up and started sewing with it. It does wonderful stitches, is easy to thread, adjustments are very easy to do. The instruction book is very helpful too. I would recommend this machine to anyone who loves to sew.
