Getting started is surprisingly easy thanks to an excellent illustrated instruction booklet and convenient features such as automatic needle threading and adjustable thread tension, stitch length, and stitch width. An LCD screen keeps track of everything going on, touch-button controls make the machine simple to operate and program, and buttons select from the 40 stitches built into the machine. Creativity then becomes a snap to replicate, as the computer's memory is capable of storing 30 customized stitch patterns. The machine is practical as well as fun, providing three styles of one-step automatic buttonholes, for example, as well as a reverse button for locking seam ends and reinforcing stitches, a speed adjustment control, an option for automatically sewing three locking stitches at the end of a seam, and another option for stopping the needle above fabric (up position) or in the fabric (down position). Ruggedly built, the machine has a sewing light, a built-in carry handle, a slide-out sewing table (which stores accessories) for free-arm sewing, and comes with a hard carrying case.
